Skin Cancer Checks

Huntlee Healthcare provides skin cancer checks as part of general practice care. These checks involve a clinical examination of the skin by independent doctors to identify lesions or changes that may require monitoring, investigation, or further management. Findings are discussed with patients, and appropriate next steps are determined based on clinical assessment.

Skin cancer checks do not replace specialist dermatology or surgical review. Where lesions of concern are identified, referral for further assessment may be recommended.

Skin Examination and Assessment

Skin assessments involve a visual and clinical review of the skin to identify lesions or areas of concern. Doctors may use clinical tools where appropriate and will advise on monitoring, investigation, or referral based on individual findings.

Skin Procedures and Investigations

Where clinically indicated, doctors may perform or arrange:

Minor procedures for simple skin lesions, including excisions, shave procedures, or punch biopsies
Cryotherapy for selected skin lesions — patients will be advised of risks, expected outcomes, and alternatives before any procedure
Referral for surgical management of suspected skin malignancies

The suitability of any procedure is determined following individual consultation and assessment. As with any medical procedure, risks and benefits will be discussed before proceeding.

Referrals and Ongoing Care

If further management is required, doctors may refer patients to appropriate specialist services. Follow-up appointments may be recommended to review healing, pathology results, or ongoing skin monitoring where clinically indicated.

Skin Cancer Prevention and Education

Doctors may provide advice on sun protection, skin self-examination, and risk factors associated with skin cancer. Preventive guidance is based on individual risk and circumstances.
