Common Questions

Questions about Women’s Health

What does women’s health care at a GP cover?+

Women’s health care covers cervical screening, contraception, and general wellbeing. It also includes menstrual, menopause, and reproductive health support. Your GP can arrange referrals to specialists when needed.

What is shared obstetric care?+

Shared obstetric care is where your GP shares pregnancy care with a hospital or obstetrician. Your GP provides some antenatal checks close to home. The hospital team manages the birth and specialist care.

When should I see a GP if I think I am pregnant?+

See your GP early in pregnancy, ideally in the first few weeks. Early checks help confirm the pregnancy and plan your care. Your doctor will discuss antenatal tests and next steps.

Can I have a cervical screening test at Huntlee?+

Yes, cervical screening tests are part of our women’s health services. This test helps detect early changes that may need follow-up. Your doctor will explain how often screening is recommended for you.
