Common Questions

Questions about Children’s Health

What childhood health services does a GP provide?+

A GP provides check-ups, immunisations, and care for common childhood illnesses. Your doctor can also monitor growth, development, and behaviour. Referrals to paediatric specialists are arranged when needed.

At what age should my child see a GP for a check-up?+

Children can see a GP at any age, from newborn to the teenage years. Regular checks help track growth, development, and immunisations. Your doctor will advise how often visits are helpful based on your child’s needs.

Are childhood vaccinations available at Huntlee Healthcare?+

Yes, we provide vaccinations listed on the National Immunisation Program. These are given at the recommended ages during childhood. Reception can help you check which vaccines are due.

What should I bring to my child’s appointment?+

Bring your child’s Medicare card and their immunisation records if you have them. Notes about symptoms, feeding, or sleep can also help. This gives the doctor a clearer picture of your child’s health.

Are children’s GP consultations bulk billed?+

Standard and long GP consultations for children are bulk billed with a valid Medicare card. Some procedures may attract a fee. Please ask reception if you are unsure about any costs.
