This may include health assessments, care planning, and coordination of services in line with program guidelines, with the aim of supporting continuity of care and access to appropriate healthcare services.

Culturally Appropriate Care and Access

Doctors work with patients to identify health needs and, where appropriate, coordinate referrals, follow-up, and access to additional support services. Care is provided with a focus on respectful communication, patient choice, and clinical appropriateness.

Common Questions

Questions about General Medicine

What does a general practitioner treat?+

A general practitioner treats a wide range of everyday health concerns. This includes infections, injuries, chronic conditions, and mental health support. Your GP can also arrange tests and refer you to specialists.

Do I need a referral to see a GP?+

No, you do not need a referral to see a general practitioner. You can book directly with the clinic. A referral is only needed when you see a specialist.

How long is a standard GP appointment?+

A standard GP appointment usually runs for about 15 minutes. If you have several concerns, please book a longer appointment. This gives your doctor time to address each issue properly.

Can I see the same doctor each visit?+

You can request your preferred doctor when booking. Continuity of care helps your doctor understand your health history. As a training practice, some of our doctors are registrars who rotate, so availability can change.

Are general medicine consultations bulk billed at Huntlee?+

Standard and long GP consultations are bulk billed with a valid Medicare card. Procedures and some services may attract a gap fee. Reception can confirm costs before your visit.
